Breath was directed by Bill McGarvey of McG Media. The piece is an expression–through music, art and film– of our elemental life spirit. It is a requiem, but also an affirmation of ‘anima,’ the essence of life. Breath combines Renaissance style, vocal counterpoint with jazz band orchestration. Two different and yet somehow connected approaches to polyphony. The artwork comes from a series of paintings that are united by their heartfelt and honest contemplations on personal experiences of loss and hope. Combined Breath reflects art’s unique ability to distill through a creative lens our collective confrontations of hardship and success and the healing power of emotional catharsis.
